Dividing The Camp

He struck on the stark difference between the Democrats and the Republicans. While Democrats seek to prevail by unifying all Americans, Republicans seek to prevail by promoting the differences. And, in times of trouble, Americans seek unity.
This is an interesting insight. It is often heard that republicans are more like democrats and democrats are more like republicans. Many newspapers have attributed people’s apathy to the similarities between parties.
Both parties go overboard in trying to define the other. Clinton makes some sweeping statements about Republicans, which may be true, but not in Clinton’s phrasing.
When people look at the parties they can’t really identify with one or the other. It is more that certain aspects will be appealing and others won’t. It is easier for everone to just stick with the two party ideal.

Are you skeptical of the two party ideal?
Very much so. But to see how other Government systems work, where you have many, many parties it dilutes everything as it takes a lot more work to figure out what all the different parties are about.
I think that it should come down to the candidates, there is no reason that someone should vote for someone just because they belong to a party.
I don’t think most Republicans feel that Bush is the best representation of their party.
The burden should be with the candidates to educate us of their views and people will vote for that person not that party.
