Where Have All the Leaders Gone

Eric’s Archived Thoughts: Partied Out

The sad thing is that in the end many of us tend to become apathetic because we see how ridicoul the state is. This is normal and has been going on as long as the republic has stood.

It is easy to find The Daily Show with John Stewart going all the way back to Socrates
(I’m sure it goes back further, but I don’t want to google Egyptian hieroglyphs).

When looking back on history it seems that things were different then. However, when viewing any society in detail it is obvious that it was the same. Human nature is always the same and our reactions to interaction and organization are always the same.

What sticks out is always the individuals that have dared to step out and make a difference, think John Locke, James Madison, Alexander Hamilton, Adam Smith, etc.

It hasn’t been that long, relatively speaking, since democracy has re-emerged. It has been an even shorter time since our current political parties rhetoric has developed. Much of it still based on an ideology of socialism that was a specific attack on European aristocracy.

Much of the ideals of Socialism and a step right into Democratic ideals are very outdated and really not built for an enormous middle class and a lack of true elite-ism aka aristocracy.

With such an access to information and thoughts it is interesting that we don’t have more people who are influential. So many brilliant people with such access to education and the closest thing we have to another political ideal is consumer advocacy.

Where have all the utopians gone? Where are those willing to think of a better way? Where are the true leaders? Many people care, many people are charismatic, many people are brilliant.

Try not to get apathetic, instead think about what would be a better way, you don’t have to lead, but maybe your ideas will spark a future generation to a better way.
