Compiling A New Kernel

Jan 18

Tech-Arena.com Forums Best tutorial on the subject I have found (ps should mirror it).

http://tlug.up.ac.za/guides/lkcg/lkcg_config_main.html (guide to menu config)
http://www.osnews.com/story.php?news_id=2949&page=3 (nice overview of compilation)

I have listed the guts of my computer elsewhere so now I going to try and figure out which modules I need, really trying to get rid of everything that is not important.

Code Maturity Level
Everything is okay, I don’t care too much about using experimental code.

Processor Type and Features
I have a 266 MHz Intel Pentium MMX processor and so it is good to use

– Petimum: Intel Pentium/Pentium MMX, AMD K5, K6 and K63D.
