The Truth About Flex-Time
Many managers in Europe (and elsewhere I reckon) are worried about allowing their employees to have flex-time arrangements. Most of the time they give the same excuses about employees not working. Study after study shows that employees that have flex-time are more productive, tend to stay longer with the company, and be overall more satisfied with their jobs.
I need to keep researching the topic, but the basic issue is one of trust. At the end of the day not allowing flexible hours just shows that you don’t trust your employees. You don’t trust that they will work if you aren’t there. You don’t trust that they can stick to their schedules. It comes down to if you have to worry about these things you’ve done a poor job in picking your people. You made your bed…
